Welcome to Spines On The Shelves. Underneath this message is a role-call of artists and labels that are featured on this blog so dig a little deeper and don't stop at the 1st post you come across - if you're into UK Hip Hop the chances are there is a load of stuff that will interest you on this site. The aim of SP.O.T.S. is to provide articles with a little bit more info than your average two-minute blog post. With the death of pretty much every magazine that covers UK hip hop in any depth it might just prove a good read for those of you missing the not-so-olden golden days of the 90s and early 00s.

This blog has been set up to serve as a reference point for collectors of UK Hip Hop history. It's aim is to focus on the Vinyl, Tapes, CDs, Magazines and Flyers that were produced by UK Hip Hop artists active in the community between 1990 and the mid 00s.
In order for a genuine hip hop scene to flourish within the UK people need to part with their cash and support the physical product put out by its artists and record labels. If artists start having to give away their music for free they will not press it on to vinyl, tape or CD and Hip Hop will become a disposable artform.
This blog respects the copyright of our artists and will never post up albums or songs for download that are available to buy elsewhere. Downloadable content on this site will be restricted to the proliferation of mixtapes and radio in keeping with the original essence of hip hop. All additional content such as photographs and scans of flyers are used with the greatest respect to their copyright holders and have been used with the aim of documenting the history of the UK hip hop scene.
